The Ceremony
The official ceremony of Civil Marriages is as follows:
- The Reading of the Act of Marriage in the presence of two witnesses who are of age.
- The CONSENT which is as follows:
John, do you willingly accept to take Jane as your wife according to Law?
Jane, do you willingly accept to take John as your husband according to Law?
Kindly note that the vows and exchange of rings are optional, and they are not a legal requirement.
After both parties have given their CONSENT, the Celebrant will pronounce the marriage by saying:
Married by me (name of celebrant) after due publication and without opposition and after the two parties have declared to me in the presence of the witnesses that they are willing to take each other for husband and wife. I accordingly pronounce that they are united by marriage according to Law.
The legal ceremony lasts approximately 5 minutes. However, the entire ceremony may last between 10-30 minutes if you consider the walk down the aisle, musicians, personalized vows, cake cutting etc.
Our team checks the tides and advise on venues and ceremony timings accordingly. However, tides are unpredictable, and we are only able to confirm beach venues a week prior to the wedding date.
Our team proposes that your ceremony take place before sunset, at around 4:30 pm local time.
If your wedding is outdoors and the weather forecast is rain or bad weather, our plan would be to move the ceremony to the day before or the day after the original wedding date,
We may also have to move the ceremony indoors, if the weather does not permit an outdoor setting.
Yes, this is possible. Please inform us in advance so that we may liaise with your celebrant.
